We’ve been hard at work all week, scrolling through Instagram to bring you this week’s featured Instahottie—Fiachra. And let me tell you, this guy is seriously impressive.
Fiachra Ó Corragáin is a man of many talents. He’s a composer, multi-instrumentalist, singer, music producer, dancer, researcher, and content creator. Phew, I’m out of breath just listing all of his skills!
According to his website, Fiachra studied Music and Irish at University College Cork. Not only did he complete his degree with first-class honors, but he also achieved one of the highest marks in Music ever awarded by the university. And get this—Fiachra was only twenty-one when he started his Ph.D. studies in composition at the School of Music and Theatre, specializing in creating music for dance and narrative compositions.
In 2016, Fiachra became the youngest person ever to receive a Ph.D. in composition from UCC. Talk about breaking records! His talent and dedication were recognized when he was commissioned to compose and perform “Planxty Prince Charles” in honor of Prince Charles’ visit to Cork in 2018. Fiachra has also composed numerous other “planxty” compositions, drawing inspiration from historical Irish harper composers like Turlough O’Carolan.
Fiachra’s impressive resume doesn’t stop there. He has made appearances on various Irish television and radio programs, such as Nationwide, Miriam Meets, Sunday Miscellany, Feis and Blood, and Lorcan Murray’s Classic Drive on Lyric FM. He’s definitely no stranger to the limelight!
