Crime Show ‘Criminal Minds: Evolution’ Set to Make a Comeback

Guess who’s back, back again? The BAU is about to return to work, and we couldn’t be more excited! According to a recent tweet from none other than Paget Brewster, the star of Criminal Minds: Evolution, production is set to resume in January at a breakneck pace. Why the rush, you ask? Well, it’s all in an effort to get those episodes to us fans ASAP. And let’s be real, we’re definitely going to watch and love them – we can’t help ourselves!

As if that news wasn’t exciting enough, Paramount+ renewed the show for another season at the beginning of the year. And can you blame them? After all, it ended up being one of the top five most-watched original series on the streaming platform. The first season, which premiered on Thanksgiving of last year, was a hit, racking up the views and wrapping up on Feb. 9 with a bang. But just when we were eagerly awaiting the second season, production was delayed in the spring due to a labor dispute. Talk about a cliffhanger!

But fear not, my dear fans. Tanya Giles, the chief programming officer of Paramount Streaming, is just as thrilled as we are to bring more twisted storylines to the screen with the order of another season. She knows what we like, and she’s ready to deliver. In her own words, “The series has always been a consistent top performer for Paramount+ and fans have quickly embraced this new season with its more serialized elements. There are still many dark twists and turns yet to come for the BAU this season and we can’t wait for fans to see what’s in store.” We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.

In case you’ve been living under a rock and haven’t watched it yet, Criminal Minds: Evolution is an expansion of the original CBS series that ran from 2005-2020. And in this current season, the FBI’s elite team of criminal profilers is facing off against an UnSub who has used the pandemic to build a network of other serial killers. Sounds intense, right? Well, buckle up, because as the world opens back up and the network goes operational, the team must hunt them down, one murder at a time. It’s a wild ride, to say the least.

And to make things even more exciting, the original cast members are continuing their roles in the show. Joe Mantegna, A.J. Cook, Kirsten Vangsness, Aisha Tyler, Adam Rodriguez, and of course, the lovely Paget Brewster are all returning to keep us on the edge of our seats. Plus, Zach Gilford joined the cast this season as a recurring guest star in a season-long arc. We can’t wait to see what kind of trouble he stirs up, that’s for sure.

Behind the scenes, Criminal Minds: Evolution is produced by ABC Signature and CBS Studios. Erica Messer is the showrunner and executive producer, and she’s got a fantastic team backing her up, including Breen Frazier, Chris Barbour, Glenn Kershaw, and Mark Gordon. With a lineup like that, it’s no wonder the show has been such a hit.

So there you have it, folks. The BAU is gearing up to jump back into the action, and we’re just as eager as can be to see what they’ve got in store for us. Stay tuned for more updates as we anxiously count down the days until January! And remember, if you’re a fan of all things twisted and thrilling, Criminal Minds: Evolution is the show for you.
