Is Jeremy Allen White set to star in a Marvel-inspired film?

Jeremy Allen White, known for his role in The Bear, recently shared that he auditioned for a “Marvel-y” movie. However, it seems that the meeting didn’t go as expected. The actor also expressed his confusion over the current fascination with the superhero genre.

The Bear has propelled Jeremy Allen White into the spotlight, making him one of the hottest commodities in Hollywood. As a result, big companies are pursuing him with numerous blockbuster deals. White revealed that he did take a meeting for a “Marvel-y” project, but ultimately, it fell through due to his skepticism.

What happened during Jeremy Allen White’s superhero movie meeting

“I had a meeting for a kind of Marvel-y movie, and I had an attitude,” White explained to GQ magazine. “I think I played it all wrong.”

According to White, trouble arose during the project meeting when he asked the executives to justify his inclusion in the project. He challenged them, saying “Tell me about why should I do your movie.” The executives didn’t respond well to the inquiry. “They were like, ‘F–k you.’ And I was like, ‘Right on.’”

“I am confused at how the pinnacle of an actor’s career has ended up in that place. They get really good filmmakers to do those movies and obviously, they get really good actors to do those movies…I played it the way I wanted to play it.”

Jeremy Allen White’s confusion about the superhero genre is certainly understandable. For as long as movies have been made, there have been actors who prefer blockbuster productions like Marvel and those who prefer smaller dramas. While it’s clear The Bear star is certainly the latter, fans can get a taste of him in spandex in the upcoming film The Iron Claw, which follows the wrestling destiny of the Von Erich family and is produced by A24.
