Is Kingpin returning to the MCU teased in ‘Echo’ plot details?

Get ready for an exciting new addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) with Echo, a Disney Plus series following Maya Lopez’s thrilling journey. In this upcoming show, Kingpin is set to make his triumphant return, and it has been confirmed that Charlie Cox will reprise his role as Daredevil.

The ending of Hawkeye, combined with various leaks and rumors, had already hinted at Kingpin’s involvement in Echo. But now, the newly revealed synopsis from the United States Copyright Office has officially confirmed his role in Maya Lopez’s story.

The synopsis reads, “Marvel Studios presents Echo, in which Maya Lopez (Alaqua Cox) struggles to reconnect with her Native American roots while balancing aspirations tied to a life of crime as successor to the brutal legacy of Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) aka Kingpin. In the first episode, we are introduced to Maya Lopez and her struggles.”

This synopsis also sheds light on the impressive cast of Echo. Alongside Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez and Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin, we will see Charlie Cox reprising his beloved role as Daredevil. The cast also includes Chaske Spencer as Henry, Tantoo Cardinal as Chula, Graham Greene as Skully, Cody Lightning as Cousin Biscuits, Devery Jacobs as Bonnie, and Zahn McClarnon as William Lopez.

Set to make its debut early next year on Disney Plus, Echo will adopt the binge-watching approach, with all episodes being released at once. Marvel Studios’ Echo will be the first MCU project on Disney Plus to follow the Netflix model, allowing fans to indulge in the entire series at their own pace.

With Echo, Alaqua Cox’s Hawkeye spinoff series, Marvel Studios is expanding its ever-growing roster of original content on Disney Plus. This will be the tenth original Marvel Studios series, alongside other live-action spinoffs like WandaVision’s Agatha: Coven of Chaos.

Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Brad Winderbaum, Stephen Broussard, Richie Palmer, Marion Dayre, and Jason Gavin will serve as executive producers on Echo. Amy Rardin, Sydney Freeland, Christina King, and Jennifer Booth will also be involved as co-executive producers.
