Will Wolverine be excluded from the X-Men reboot in the MCU?

Rumor has it that Wolverine won’t be joining the X-Men in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) reboot. While the details about Marvel Studios’ plans for the X-Men in the MCU have been sparse, leaks suggest that Wolverine, one of the most famous X-Men, won’t be a part of the team for the film.

This news shouldn’t come as a shock to fans of the X-Men comics. Wolverine wasn’t a founding member of the team and only joined in the spiritual reboot with “Giant-Size X-Men Issue #1.” Additionally, Hugh Jackman’s iconic portrayal of the character for many years may contribute to Marvel Studios’ hesitancy to recast Wolverine for the MCU.

In other X-Men news, the upcoming “X-Men ’97” animated series promises to continue where the original series left off. Fans can expect to see some of the most iconic villains from the X-Men universe, such as Mister Sinister, Emma Frost, Sebastian Shaw, Callisto, and Valerie Cooper. The series will also feature the return of beloved voice actors from the original series, including Cal Dodd, Lenore Zann, George Buza, Adrian Hough, Christopher Britton, Catherine Disher, Chris Potter, Alison Sealy-Smith, and Alyson Court. New voice talents, such as Jennifer Hale, Anniwaa Buachie, Ray Chase, Matthew Waterson, JP Karliak, Holly Chou, Jeff Bennett, and AJ LoCascio, will also be joining the cast. However, the premiere of “X-Men ’97” has been delayed with no official release date announced. It is now expected to debut sometime in 2024.

While the X-Men reboot in the MCU may not include Wolverine, Marvel Studios is still making efforts to push the X-Men franchise across all mediums until they make their big screen debut.
