The Masked Singer kicked off its new season with a special standalone episode on Sunday. The episode featured performances by alumni such as Michelle Williams, Rumer Willis, Joey Fatone, and Bow Wow, who all performed without wearing a costume. However, one singer did perform in disguise as Anonymouse.
Anonymouse appeared on stage dressed as a mouse with a big bow on their head, wearing a tulle skirt, leather jacket, and boots. They surprised the audience with a powerful rendition of Heart’s “What About Love?”, a cover of Toronto’s song that appeared on Heart’s 1985 album. At the end of the episode, the identity of Anonymouse was revealed to be Demi Lovato.
Although Lovato was not an official competitor on the show, her distinctive voice and the preview clip from the show led some fans to guess it was her. The audience and panelists, including Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger, and Robin Thicke, were all impressed with Lovato’s fiery delivery during her performance.
In addition to her appearance on The Masked Singer, Lovato is also set to perform at the MTV Video Music Awards on Tuesday. She will be joined by other artists such as Olivia Rodrigo, Karol G, Fall Out Boy, Doja Cat, Lil Wayne, Anitta, Tomorrow x Together, and many more. Lovato is nominated for Best Pop and Video for Good for her reproductive rights anthem, “Swine”. On September 15, Lovato’s Revamped album is set to be released, where she reimagines her pop hits as rock songs.
It’s a busy time for Lovato, with multiple performances and nominations coming up. Fans can look forward to seeing her showcase her talent in various settings, from the masked stage of The Masked Singer to the star-studded MTV Video Music Awards.
