Ewan McGregor, the talented actor who portrayed Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars prequel movies, recently spilled the beans on his initial reluctance to take on the iconic role. At the youthful age of 52, McGregor joined forces with Hayden Christensen and Natalie Portman to bring the beloved characters to life.
However, in a recent interview, McGregor confessed that he was “very reluctant” to step into the Jedi’s shoes. It seems his doubts intensified after the release of the first prequel film. Talk about a forceful battle within oneself!
Reflecting on that uncertain period, McGregor revealed, “It wasn’t a done deal for me. I didn’t think it was at all who I was.” In his search for guidance, he sought advice from numerous trusted pals. It’s always wise to consult friends when contemplating intergalactic adventures.
Despite his initial reservations, McGregor did admit that he was “happy” to bring the character to life. However, he couldn’t deny the challenges that came with the prequel series’ reputation. “When these films came out, they were so disliked. That was hard. The first one was panned, and we still had to make another two! It was weird to be in a film that was hammered,” he shared. Ouch, talk about harsh reviews!
But fear not, fellow Jedi enthusiasts, for McGregor found solace in his standalone series. We can only imagine how much smoother it must have been to focus on his character without the weight of an entire trilogy on his shoulders.

McGregor revealed, “I would love to do the second season, but there’s no talk of it yet. There is a lot going on at Disney.” Looks like we’ll have to rely on the Force to make it happen.
