‘Gunn spills the beans on Corenswet’s Superman suit debut date!’

Fans have been eagerly awaiting their first look at David Corenswet’s costume in the upcoming Superman: Legacy film. However, according to writer-director James Gunn, Corenswet’s Superman suit reveal is still a long time away.

While progress on Superman: Legacy has been steady at DC Studios, even in spite of the strikes, it’s perhaps been slow for many fans. This has left many to wonder when they’ll be seeing the film’s lead, David Corenswet, finally suit up as the Man of Steel. According to the film’s writer and director, James Gunn, DC fans won’t be seeing Corenswet in tights until “after we’re filming.”

While James Gunn’s announcement may seem grim to some fans, production on Superman: Legacy is scheduled to start in March 2024 This means, at the absolute latest, fans will likely see David Corenswet in his costume at next year’s San Diego Comic-Con. Given the history of Gunn and DC Studios with costumes, it’s certain to be a reveal that’s worth the wait.

Superman’s DC Universe Future

Superman: Legacy is a much-anticipated project, given that Clark Kent has been an integral part of the DC Universe for over 80 years, with various iterations and adaptations across different media. The movie promises to explore the character’s origins and his struggles to balance his dual identities as Clark and Superman while fighting off villains and saving the world. The choice to focus on the early years of his career is a bold move that could potentially breathe new life into the character and appeal to a younger generation of fans.

James Gunn and Peter Safran told journalists that their vision for the DC Universe includes locked scripts, wiggle room and a unified storyline across film, television, animation and video game projects. The two explained that the DC Universe could bring back elements from previous DC regimes, meaning that their eight-to-year plan is not a full reboot.
