Is Marvel star Jonathan Majors officially headed to trial?

In a surprising turn of events, Marvel star Jonathan Majors is officially going to trial after his lawyers made a final attempt to get the assault charges against him dismissed. The judge, however, rejected their motion and the trial is set to take place on November 29th.

Majors recently attended his final pre-trial hearing in New York, following his arrest back in March. During the hearing, his lawyers pushed to dismiss the misdemeanor assault and harassment charges that were filed against him. They also requested certain pieces of evidence to be sealed before the trial. Unfortunately for Majors, the judge denied the motion to dismiss, meaning he will have to face trial for the charges against him.

The outcome of this trial could potentially have a significant impact on Majors’ future with Marvel Studios. Rumors suggest that if he is found guilty, he might be recast in his role as Kang the Conqueror in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Marvel has put a lot on the line with Majors’ role, which might explain their cautious approach in waiting for the trial’s outcome before making any decisions, unlike his former manager and publicist.

Jonathan Majors’ Role as Kang in Doubt Amid Abuse Claims

Jonathan Majors is scheduled to reprise his role as Kang in the upcoming film, “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty,” set to release in May 2025. It is reported that the 33-year-old actor is set to earn a substantial $20 million, including back-end compensation. He has also signed on to appear in “Avengers: Secret Wars,” at least for now.

Disney, the parent company of Marvel Studios, is closely monitoring the situation and has time to make a decision before production starts on “The Kang Dynasty.” However, according to Variety, the alleged victim involved in the Manhattan incident also worked on Marvel’s “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” in which Majors had a prominent role. This creates a potential conflict for the studio, as they determine how to handle the situation.

As the case against Jonathan Majors progresses, the response from Disney remains uncertain. While his attorney maintains his innocence, the involvement of multiple alleged victims cooperating with the district attorney’s office suggests that the case is far from over.
