Did ‘Loki’ Season 2 achieve a record-breaking 3-day audience on Disney+?

The mischievous Loki is back to entertain audiences on Disney+ once more. Season 2 of the hit series made its debut on Thursday and has already garnered an impressive 10.9 million global views in its first three days on the platform. This makes it the second most-watched season premiere on Disney+ this year, just trailing behind the Season 3 premiere of ‘The Mandalorian’ in March.

To put these numbers into perspective, a view for Disney is determined by calculating the total stream time divided by the runtime available. While Disney has not officially released viewership data for the Season 3 premiere of ‘The Mandalorian,’ Nielsen reported that the first episode accumulated approximately 823 million viewing minutes in its initial few days on Disney+.

The strong audience response for ‘Loki’ is noteworthy, especially when compared to the last Star Wars spinoff, ‘Ahsoka,’ whose premiere viewership data was highlighted by Disney over a five-day period. It is no surprise that ‘Loki’ has received such a warm reception, as it was one of Marvel’s most successful series on Disney+ from the beginning. It was the first Marvel series to be renewed for a second season and, as of May 2022, it remains the most-watched Marvel series on the platform to date.

When ‘Loki’ debuted in June 2021, it had the most successful first day of any Marvel series on Disney+, attracting 890,000 U.S. households, as reported by Samba TV. Throughout its entire first season run, the show continued to break records.

Fans can expect ‘Loki’ Season 2 to captivate them until November 9, delivering more of the beloved character’s misadventures and embracing the eccentricity that has made the series such a hit.
