In an exciting announcement, Coronation Street has revealed that they’ve snapped up Britain’s Got Talent legend, Jack Carroll, for a major new role. The beloved soap opera is set to introduce a surprise family member for Underworld boss Carla Connor, as her husband Peter prepares to make his exit.

Carla will be getting an unexpected Christmas present this year in the form of a long-lost nephew. And to make it even more exciting, this new character will be played by none other than Jack Carroll, a familiar face to many viewers.

Jack Carroll will play Bobby, the son of Carla’s brother Rob Donovan, who is serving life in prison for the murder of Tina McIntyre. Bobby’s existence was unknown to Rob until recently, and he hadn’t managed to inform Carla about his son. However, that all changes when Bobby shows up out of the blue, having fallen out with his mother and in need of a place to stay.

Described as “a livewire chip off the old block” with “the gift of the gab and an eye for the ladies,” Bobby quickly becomes a handful for his aunt. It becomes evident that he plans on sticking around for a while, bringing excitement and chaos to the cobbles of Coronation Street.

Jack Carroll is already a familiar face to many Coronation Street fans, as he rose to fame at just 14 years old as the runner-up on the seventh series of Britain’s Got Talent in 2014. His stand-up comedy routine won over both the judges and viewers, propelling him into the spotlight. Since then, he has appeared on various shows, including Saturday Night at the London Palladium, Jason Manford’s Funny Old Week, and Live At the Apollo. He has also embarked on his own national live tour.

Despite his success as a comedian, Jack Carroll is also an accomplished actor. He has appeared in Ministry of Curious Stuff on CBBC, comedy series Trollied, and the soap Doctors. In 2019, he played the role of Pete in the feature film Eaten By Lions. Most recently, he wrote and starred in his own comedy short film titled Mobility.

Commenting on his new role in Coronation Street, Jack expressed his delight and honor. He said, “I’m delighted and honored to be playing a part in the history of the cultural institution that is Coronation Street. I hope Bobby brings viewers a lot of laughs in the vein of some of the street’s classic comedy characters.”

Coronation Street usually airs on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 8pm on ITV. Make sure to tune in and see how Jack Carroll’s character shakes things up on the cobbles.
