Is Emmerdale star’s split from wife after eight years a sad but amicable separation?

In a surprising turn of events, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks star James Sutton has announced the end of his marriage to wife Rachael Collin after eight years together. The news was revealed by James himself, who spoke to the Mirror about the split. “Rachael and I had a wonderful relationship and marriage. It was very sad but amicable, and we remain friends,” he said.

The couple, who met at Glastonbury, had a unique wedding at the same festival. However, like many couples during the lockdown, their relationship became strained. A source close to them shared that James being in the public eye and Rachael preferring to be out of the spotlight played a role in their decision to separate, but they still have a lot of love for each other.

James Sutton gained fame in 2006 when he portrayed the character of gay teenager John Paul McQueen in Hollyoaks. He left the show in 2008 but returned in 2012 for a five-year run before leaving again in 2017. The actor later joined Emmerdale, where he played mechanic Ryan Lamb for two years before departing in 2011. He then went on to appear in Casualty and Holby City.

Sutton eventually made his way back to Hollyoaks in 2012 and has remained there ever since. Recently, his character, John Paul McQueen, was the victim of a homophobic attack. James confirmed that this storyline will be a significant part of the character’s journey over the next six to 12 months.

Fans of Emmerdale can catch the show weeknights at 7:30 pm on ITV, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays. You can also leave a comment on the Entertainment Daily Facebook page to share your thoughts on the news.

While it is undoubtedly sad to see James Sutton’s marriage come to an end, we hope that both he and Rachael find happiness and fulfillment in their separate paths.
