Will Nathan Griffith go to prison after pleading guilty to strangling his sister?

In July, we reported on the shocking news that Nathan Griffith, former Teen Mom star, had been arrested for allegedly assaulting his sister. According to his sister, Hannah Griffith, Nathan choked her and threatened to kill her, prompting her to call the police. This disturbing incident is unfortunately not the first time Nathan has found himself in legal trouble, as he has been arrested multiple times in the past for charges such as DUI and assault.

Recently, Nathan appeared in a Clark County, Nevada courtroom, where he pleaded guilty to a felony charge of “Attempted Battery by Strangulation.” While this guilty plea may seem like a step towards justice, it appears that Nathan may once again avoid serving time in prison. According to a report from The Ashley’s Reality Roundup, Nate’s case will be moved to Veteran’s Court, as per the request of his lawyers. This change of venue is possible because Nathan served in the U.S. Marines Corps and is therefore eligible for the Veterans Treatment Court program.

The Veterans Treatment Court program aims to address the substance abuse and mental health issues that contribute to criminal behavior among its participants. While this may result in a lighter sentence for Nathan, it also offers an opportunity for him to finally receive the treatment he desperately needs for his substance abuse issues.

According to Hannah, the latest incident occurred while Nathan was staying with her and her husband, whom he befriended during their time in the military. Hannah claims that Nathan had been sober for about a week but relapsed when her husband went out of town. She alleges that Nathan made threatening remarks and began choking her, a behavior that echoes his previous arrest for domestic battery by strangulation earlier this year.

It is clear that Nathan Griffith is a troubled individual in need of serious help. This arrest, while distressing, may be a turning point that leads him towards the assistance and support he so desperately needs. It is our hope that Nathan can finally confront his substance abuse and mental health issues and find a path towards a healthier and more positive life.
