Get ready for a nostalgic blast from the past as 90210 alums Trevor Donovan and Jessica Lowndes reunite on screen for the first time in 10 years. The duo will star in Great American Family’s upcoming film, Harvest Homecoming. In the film, Donovan plays teacher Drew Granger, who returns to his hometown of Chestnut Hollow, Texas to take up a temporary substitute job. Upon his arrival, he is surprised to find that his parents have hired a new manager for the orchard and cider mill, played by Lowndes.
The exclusive first look at the film, provided by Us Weekly, gives us a glimpse of their reconnection. In the trailer, Lainie (Lowndes) spots Drew wandering around the property and greets him with a simple “Hey”. Drew awkwardly responds with, “Hey… is for horses!” and tries to brush off the moment. However, his father won’t let it go and jokes about Drew’s odd response. Despite the cringe-worthy encounter, Drew and Lainie seem to hit it off as they work together to revive Drew’s family orchard with a rebranded Harvest Homecoming Festival.
This rom-com reunion is a new experience for Donovan and Lowndes, but they are no strangers to working together. Both actors previously starred in the hit teen drama series 90210. Lowndes played Adrianna Tate-Duncan throughout all five seasons, while Donovan joined the cast as Teddy Montgomery in 2009. On the show, their characters were exes with a complicated history, but in this new film, they will have the chance to explore a different kind of relationship.
Aside from their acting roles, Donovan and Lowndes also serve as executive producers on A Harvest Homecoming. Donovan even wrote an original song for the film, titled “Fields of Gold”. Fans of both actors can catch the premiere of the movie on Great American Family on Saturday, September 30th at 8 p.m. ET.
