Warner Bros. Discovery Moves Harry Potter and Green Lantern Series to HBO

  • Big-budget original scripted series not going to Max
  • Warner Bros. Discovery moving titles like Harry Potter and IT prequel to HBO
  • Green Lantern series Lanterns also part of the strategy shakeup

Hey there! So, guess what? Warner Bros. Discovery is shuffling things around when it comes to big-budget shows. It looks like they’re moving the highly anticipated ‘Harry Potter’ series and the ‘IT’ prequel ‘Welcome to Derry’ from Max over to good ol’ HBO.

But wait, there’s more! The Green Lantern series ‘Lanterns’ is also getting in on the action with a series order at HBO. And hey, it’s still up in the air whether ‘The Penguin’ and ‘Dune: Prophecy’ will make the jump too. Guess we’ll have to wait and see on that one.

Sure, ‘Harry Potter’ and ‘Welcome to Derry’ will eventually find their way back to Max after their TV debuts, but it seems like Warner Bros. Discovery is having a bit of a rethink when it comes to pumping out original scripted content on their streaming platform.

Remember when they rebranded Max back in 2023? David Zaslav was all like, “This is our time, our chance, everything is possible!” But now it seems like big-budget scripted series might not be Max’s bread and butter anymore, especially after they axed their unscripted shows in 2022.

So, what’s the deal with the switcheroo, you ask? Who knows, maybe Warner Bros. Discovery is just trying to shake things up and keep us on our toes. All I know is, I’ll be tuning in to see how these big moves play out.

Don’t forget to share this news with your buddies. Who knows, they might have some thoughts on the matter too. Cheers to big changes in the world of TV!
