One such performer, Bill Maher, is scheduled to do stand-up this weekend at the MGM Grand. Despite the long check-out lines caused by the cyberattack, Maher’s representative has confirmed that his Friday and Saturday shows will still go on as planned.
Another iconic Vegas staple, Cirque Du Soleil, has shows at various MGM properties including the Grand, Bellagio, and Mandalay Bay. According to a representative, all of their shows are proceeding as scheduled for this weekend.
Even outside of MGM hotels, other Vegas acts are not letting the cyberattack affect their performances. Shows for Magic Mike Live at SAHARA, Chris Angel MINDFREAK at Planet Hollywood, and Murray the Magician at Tropicana are all set to entertain audiences this weekend.
The cyberattack, which hit MGM resorts earlier this week, resulted in guests being unable to access their rooms, disruptions in casino slot machines, phone line outages, and halted hotel check-ins. MGM has acknowledged a “cybersecurity concern” and is working with external experts to resolve the issue, but a complete fix has not been implemented yet.
Hacker groups including ALPHV and The Scattered Spider have claimed responsibility for the attack, although MGM has not officially confirmed these claims. However, cybersecurity experts have noted that the disruptions experienced by the resorts align with the signs of a cyberattack.
Despite the ongoing issues caused by the cyberattack, the good news is that live entertainment in Las Vegas is persevering.
