In recent days, there has been a lot of drama surrounding Marvel Studios’ Disney Plus projects. A new report reveals that the head writer for Moon Knight left the Disney Plus show at some point during its development.
Moon Knight has been criticized for feeling like a completely different show after a certain point. The revelation from THR that Jeremy Slater, the head writer and creator of the series for Disney Plus, left the show during production might explain this change. As a result, director Mohamed Diab had to step in and take over creative control following Slater’s departure.
While the reason for Jeremy Slater’s departure from Moon Knight hasn’t been disclosed, it appears that he didn’t leave on bad terms. Slater is still credited as the head writer and creator of the series, and even participated in press events when the show premiered on Disney Plus. However, Marvel Studios might face criticism for allowing such a significant creative force to quietly leave the production, which could potentially pose challenges for a second season of the show.
Oscar Isaac’s Moon Knight Season 2 Tease
During his New York Comic-Con panel, Oscar Isaac was asked about his plans to return to the role of Moon Knight in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While he couldn’t share much, his response suggests that the character will have a future in the MCU.
“All I can say is it is not the last we’ve heard of the system that is Moon Knight.”
Jeremy Slater developed Moon Knight as a six-episode series that aired on the Disney Plus streaming service between March and May of this year. Although Marvel has yet to announce a second season, the final episode of Moon Knight left the possibility open for the character to return within the MCU.
With a focus on a man with dissociative identity disorder, Moon Knight concluded with the revelation that the show’s lead character, Marc Spector, has a third persona known as “Jake Lockley,” who works with Khonshu, the Egyptian moon god. His two main identities are unaware of Jake’s existence.
The Disney Plus series stars Oscar Isaac, May Calamawy, Karim El Hakim, F. Murray Abraham, Ethan Hawke, Ann Akinjirin, David Ganly, Khalid Abdalla, Gaspard Ulliel, Antonia Salib, Fernanda Andrade, Rey Lucas, Sofia Danu, and Saba Mubarak.
