Adam Johnson, a 29-year-old American professional who played for the Nottingham Panthers team in the UK, suffered a fatal injury on Saturday evening. The incident occurred during a match against the Sheffield Steelers at Utilita Arena Sheffield.
Witnesses at the game reported that Johnson was struck in the neck by an ice hockey blade belonging to another player. Despite attempting to skate back to his team after the collision, Johnson collapsed on the ice.
