Supes’ Secret Squad: Leak Unveils James Gunn’s DC Revamp B-Team!

Superman: Legacy Leak May Reveal The Supporting Cast Of James Gunn’s DCU Reboot

Superman: Legacy is officially set to be the start of the new DC Universe helmed by James Gunn and Peter Safran. A new leak reveals more members of the reboot’s supporting cast that have yet to be revealed.

The cast of Superman: Legacy has been growing by the day, with characters from Jimmy Olsen to Lex Luthor joining the upcoming reboot. Yet it seems as though James Gunn and Peter Safran still have a long way to go when casting for the film. A new leak from r/DCEULeaks seemingly reveals four more roles yet to be cast in the DCU:

The first name mentioned in the leak is Perry White, the editor-in-chief of the Daily Planet where Clark Kent and Lois Lane work. Apparently, James Gunn and Peter Safran have already sent out an offer for an actor to play Perry in Superman: Legacy, though their identity has yet to be revealed.

Next up are both Martha Kent and Jon Kent, the adoptive parents of Clark Kent. It’s no shock that the two would appear in Superman: Legacy, as the character’s parents have been staples throughout every incarnation. What is interesting is James Gunn seems to be looking for lesser-known names in their 50s-70s, seemingly ruling out many actors speculated to play the roles.

Finally and most shockingly, Superman: Legacy seems to be looking for an actor in his 40s-50s to play a comedic role, with many speculating this to be Steve Lombard, a fellow reporter at the Daily Planet. While Lombardi did recently appear in My Adventures With Superman, he’s certainly a lesser-known member of Superman’s supporting cast and shows just how deep Gunn is cutting with his reboot.

It seems as though, contrary to many fans’ fears, Superman: Legacy will focus just as much on the Daily Planet supporting cast as it does on the many fellow heroes cast in the DCU reboot. With only a few months left until cameras start rolling, it’ll be interesting to see which actors land these roles, or if James Gunn will simply have another leak to debunk.

What to expect from Superman’s DC Universe debut

Superman: Legacy is a much-anticipated project, given that Clark Kent has been an integral part of the DC Universe for over 80 years, with various iterations and adaptations across different media. The movie promises to explore the character’s origins and his struggles to balance his dual identities as Clark and Superman while fighting off villains and saving the world. The choice to focus on the early years of his career is a bold move that could potentially breathe new life into the character and appeal to a younger generation of fans.

James Gunn and Peter Safran told journalists that their vision for the DC Universe includes locked scripts, wiggle room, and a unified storyline across film, television, animation, and video game projects. The two explained that the DC Universe could bring back elements from previous DC regimes, meaning that their eight-to-year plan is not a full reboot.
