The annual Clue Awards at the CrimeCon event in Orlando, Florida, celebrated the best in true crime entertainment. Hosted by ABC News legal analyst Matt Murphy, the event honored various networks, producers, and publishers.
Oxygen’s “911 Disaster Center” and A&E’s “Secrets of the Chippendales Murders” were among the winners of the night. Other presenters included Nancy Grace, Kelly Siegler, Camille Vasquez, and Paul Holes. The event was streamed live on Regulation&Crime’s social media channels, making it accessible to true crime enthusiasts worldwide.
One of the highlights of the evening was the inaugural “America’s Best Detective” award, which was given to Cynthia Garza, the Special Bureau Chief of the Conviction Integrity Unit in Dallas County, Texas. This honor recognized Garza’s exceptional work in the field of criminal justice.
The “People’s Choice: Author of the Year” award, voted by fans, went to Alice LaCour and Brett Talley, co-hosts of the podcast “The Prosecutors.” This recognition reflects the podcast’s popularity and the impact it has had on its listeners.
In addition, the “Crimefighter of the Year” award was presented to The Gabby Petito Foundation. Derrica and Natalie Wilson, the co-founders of the Black and Missing Foundation, presented the award to Petito’s parents and step-parents. The Petito Foundation, in turn, donated $15,000 to BAMFI, further supporting the organization’s mission.
The Clue Awards also recognized outstanding true crime series, documentaries, books, and podcasts. Winners in the TV category included “I Just Killed My Dad,” “Low Country: The Murdaugh Dynasty,” and the ultimate winner, “Secrets of the Chippendales Murders.” The outstanding episodic series award went to “911 Crisis Center.” The winners in the book category included “American Autopsy,” “The Murders of Moises Ville,” and the winning book, “Trailed: One Woman’s Quest to Solve the Shenandoah Murders.” The documentary film category saw “Murdaugh Family Murders,” “Serial Killer Capital: Baton Rouge,” and the winning film, “The Fire That Took Her.” The podcast category recognized notable series such as “Crawlspace – True Crime & Mysteries,” the winning episodic series “Missing in America: Keeshae Jacobs,” and the winning podcast docuseries “Freeway Phantom.”
